Getting to Know Tara Watkins: 

Tara attended Western Kentucky University where she received dual bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Agriculture (emphasis in Plant and Soil Sciences) in 2017. While there, she studied the influence of tillage and fertilizer regime on the presence and populations of select pathogenic microbes in a corn-corn-corn rotation. Tara joined the Trail lab in fall 2017 where she is working on her PhD in Plant Pathology. She is on a U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative-funded project investigating how RNAi can be used to manage Fusarium Head Blight in wheat and barley through a spray-induced gene silencing approach.
