Getting to Know Cristina de Miguel Rojas:
Cristina received her Bachelor’s and Master's degree at University of Cordoba (Spain) where she completed her PhD in 2014 in the group of Molecular Genetics of Fungal Pathogenicity. Her PhD was focused in F-box proteins and their role in the pathogenicity of the vascular wilt fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici.
In February 2015, she joined the Trail lab here in Michigan State University as research associate. Her research in Trail lab is focused on understanding the molecular evolution and genetics of the spore germination in different fungal plant pathogens. This USDA-funded project is collaborated with the Townsend lab (Department of Biostatistics, Yale University). The main goal of this project is to identify genes responsible of different approaches to plant penetration by using transcriptomics and molecular genetics.
