Getting to Know Soumya Moonjely:

Soumya Moonjely received her B.Sc degree from Mahatma Gandhi University (India). She completed M.Sc from McGill University (Canada). As a part of her master’s degree project, she worked on molecular epidemiology of human pathogenic fungus, Histoplasma capsulatum. For Ph.D, she joined Bidochka’s lab at Brock University (Canada) to study the molecular aspects of fungal (Metarhizium and Beauveria) interactions with plants and insects. She joined the Trail lab in Fall 2020 as a postdoctoral associate. Soumya is currently working on a USDA funded project studying the genes that govern the spore germination of plant pathogenic fungus, Fusarium graminearum
